A nice little tweak for XP. M*crosoft reserve 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes (suspect for updates and interrogating your machine etc..)

Here's how to get it back:

Click Start-->Run-->type "gpedit.msc" without the "

This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:

Local Computer Policy-->Computer Configuration-->Administrative Templates-->Network-->QOS Packet Scheduler-->Limit Reservable Bandwidth

Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab :

"By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."

So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.

Come techofest ‘08….is the cry for the most of guys and girls of most of Tamil nadu…..when they announced their schedule of their annual cultural meet. Another highlight was it was the special day on February 14, it was for the couples. The bottom-line was nothing but the event of Shankar Mahadevan. Nothing more to give hype about the other events. Am not going to concentrate much on the prelude of the event because there’s always a lot to talk about his concert. We (Subra, me and girishh took a left turn to the Anna University only at the stroke of 7 pm. As the gates started to close we reached out there with excitement in the air. We sat straight looking at the stage. There he comes with his usual high pitched “Come onnnn CEG……………..” “A commercial saarang “is the first word uttered by one of my friend girishh that was ringing in my ears till the end as it proved to be. He started with a bang with my favorite song “breathless” one of his song till now. I missed a trick of not taking my camera with me. But even I tried to capture the video in bits with my ever reliable Moto Ming. Then he made a survey of wat to sing with the crowd. Great thing about his singing is his interaction with the crowd to make the concert livelier. So he started with some Tamil songs with alternate Tamil songs. It was the day in which you can see the whole engineering students to witness the joyous moments in their college life. Dancing on the chairs, on the vacant space! It was literally a DJ nite for all those who gathered there. His selection of songs were awesome .Some glitches were the organizing of the event was not that great because the show started only by 7 30 pm. We saw our class mate there which was a bit of surprise and it must be a great experience for one of my classmate Prem Santhosh who came with his girlfriend Sushma as it was valentine’s evening. Most of the songs were super hit songs. He also sang which was sung originally by other singers like dilse re. The singers accompanied him were also brilliant like Anushya, Aravind…. The ending was great which he sang his latest songs from Taare Zameen Par, Khajuraho etc.Overall it was the evening to cherish .enjoy the Breathless video.As the video quality is low, and I don’t want to put the other songs. I tried to explain him that I came to college only for the project purposes. But he didn’t take my words. So I entered my name there. From today onwards we have to get the gate pass for getting out of the college. So the college is becoming strict.

The Computer Society of India or in short known as the CSI is a marvelous organisation for the promotion of …..(I don’t know!!!) But I am a proud student member of this society. Oops!!! correction here, I was made as a member as everyone is in my class. It was made compulsory for all the students of the computer science department and we were forced to pay Rs 400 and subscribe to the monthly magazine of this society.

I also received the ID card, the purpose of which still I am not aware. I also receive the monthly technical magazine on the stipulated date (Kudos to everyone involved). I have not got the slightest interest in those and generally throw them to the corner of my shelf and they have piled up. But once when I was thumbing through one of the issues (doing some justice to the 400 I paid…) I found that the February edition would be dedicated to blogging (Every month a growing technical trend is illustrated). I forgot about this a long way back.

Last week my friend me messaged me “dei…this month’s CSI journal about blogging”. Then I remembered but I had not received the book by that time and so I waited. Finally I received it and it had a nice cover portrayal. Immediately I read through the index and found the most common name Kiruba Shankar and immediately turned to that page and read his article about “What makes a blog shine?” It was damn good and the other articles “Are you using the right blogging tool?” many tips and sample opinion from bloggers were also nice.

The story starts with the prakash raj(chinna) as underworld don who is the real hero in this movie with his acting reaching the pinnacle with every movie.Vikram(Sekar)-a constable’s son inspired by the style and grace of Prakash raj wants to become like him enters the foray with surprise hits which aids prakash raj’s work.Prakash Raj accepts Vikram in his gang.Vikram and Prakash raj then slowly conquers the city and at one stage Prakash Raj Becomes the God father of the city which the other gang led by RaghuVaran doesn’t like and try to kill both Vikram and Prakash Raj .But in every battle prakash raj and co wins the battle.At one scene after the interval Rahuvaran will be abducted by Prakash Raj which is a scene to watch in the movie.The movie is a racy entertainer sans the songs.The story is good and the screenplay is in fact very good. Trisha’s role in the first half somewhat puts break between the movie.First half of the movie is slower when compared to the second half.

The sequences of potraying the friendship between vikram and prakash raj somewhat resembles the days of Dalapathy. The flash back seems to nicely taken.Then enters the Aasish Vidyarthi who is the commissioner of police to the city who wants to curb the gangwars takes evasive decisions which prompts Raghuvaran to be quiet for a brief period of time and the operation of the mission is named “Bheema”.Then the screenplay from this part just flies off literally with three gangs including Aashish Vidyarthi fight against each other. Then Vikram falls in love with Trisha which makes him to choose between Work or Love.But the prakash raj gang mainly revolves around Vikram and Vikram wants to be free and want to start his new life with trisha .Too many songs in the second half seems to be a drawback for the movie.The climax seems to be a real thriller with a nice twist which resembles a oscar winning English movie.I don’t want to spoil by saying the name of the movie.Overall the movie seems to be a masala usual tamil movie .

Positives

• The acting of Vikram and prakash raj seems to be the biggest plus of the movie.
• Then the next thing is the screenplay.
• The Exclusion of extra Comedy track which is sensible thing done by the director.
• Vikram has done some work before the movie to look like a gangster which is appreciable.

Negatives

• Trisha’s role in the movie slows down the screenplay which I think is the major setback.
• Placing of too many songs in the second half is somewhat a unnecessary thing.

What I have witnessed in the past 5 days is simply something that no cricket fan will enjoy. Australia beat India in the 2nd test at Sydney amidst controversies. Honestly, Aussies never deserved to win. From World Champions, they can now be called as World Cheaters instead. Starting from day 1, India have been victims of some really poor decisions made by the 2 umpires Mark Benson and Steve Bucknor. I wonder why these umpires are in elite panel. Bucknor was a good umpire, say 5 years back. But, for the past 3 yrs or so, he has been constantly making bad decisions and costing many matches. I honestly feel that he should retire from umpiring, with the pair of rotten eyes that he has got. I need not tell about Benson. He has been so loyal to Australia and has been wagging his tail like a dog and I wonder what he got from them in return.

I have stated all the dismissals that was due to poor umpiring. I havent included lbw because its never conclusive.Starting with the dismissal:

* Ponting was clearly out on 17 but was given not out. He went on to score 55. Now, ponting dint walk. Benson was the umpire here and he just watched ponting. Since he dint walk, benson ruled it in favour of Ponting.

* Next, Symonds was caught behind when he was on 35 or so. Steve "THE BLIND&DEAF" Bucknor ruled it not out. That evening, Symonds shamelessly told in the press conference that he had nicked it.

* This time it was the third umpire,Oxenford. Inspite of TV replays showing clearly that Symonds was out of the crease and was clearly stumped,he gave it not out. Dont know what he was doing at that time.

* Symonds again. And Bucknor again. This time, he was stumped and his feet was on the air. But, bucknor dint even go for the 3rd umpire. So lame umpiring.

* Jaffer bowled of a no-ball. Mark benson this time, not sighting the foot. Excusable though.

* In 2nd inns, Hussey nicked the ball to Dhoni and stood his ground. Clearly out again. But, Benson said No.

* Rahul Dravid given out caught behind. This was one of the pathetic decisions. The ball neither had contacts with the pad or bat. I wonder why gilly appealed cos he very well knew that dravid hadn't nicked it. So, after all Gilly is a cheater too. Bucknor was the one who gave this out.

* Sourav ganguly given out caught at slips. Clarke dint appear to have taken the ball cleanly. So, Dada stood his ground. And, guess what, that is when I came to know that there was another umpire in the ground and his name was Ricky Ponting. Benson, instead of asking the 3rd umpire or atleast the square leg umpire, asked Ponting whther the catch was taken cleanly. Ponting said yes. And, benson gave that out.

So, that was the end of it, with clarke bowling brilliantly to clean off the tail. After all of this, I really wanted the Indians to just complain to ICC or atleast slam the Aussies for poor sportsmanship. But, instead, they have been so humble enough and havent made this an issue. Really warm applause to all the Indian players and particularly to Kumble. He has been so very calm and collective. India deserved to win this test match and truly so, according to me, they have won this test match by outclassing Aussies in all departments. Aussies how ever are way ahead of India in one department, ie cheating. I mean, no one would be able to beat Aussies in that area. They have been kings in that field. So, the World chapions prove to be World Cheaters again!! After all this, I still am proud to be a fan of India. They have been superb in this test after suffering huge defeat in Melbourne. I hope they continue to play in the same vein, irrespective of they winning or losing. Sachin, Sourav, Rahul, Kumble, Laxman and Bajji--> U were greaat!!! Chak De India-- >The true winners!!!

She was a great politician and was the first woman in the world to be elected to lead a Muslim state by being elected as Prime minister of Pakistan, not once, but twice. She was exiled to Dubai in 1998 until she returned to Pakistan this year. She was granted amnesty after she came to a conclusion with Musharraf this year and all her corruption charges was withdrawn. But, she was killed today by suicide bombers to end a (in)famous career of one of the influential women that the world has ever witnessed.

Eventful day

Today was an eventful day. Starting with the Indian batting, where no batsman except Sachin and Sourav could withstand the pace and accuracy of the Australian bowlers, it was an unhappy day for me. I expected Sachin to score a century atleast today because of the quality of batting that he displayed today. Then, I went to ground and played some matches which I hope ended in a drawn series. Then, the South African batting crumbled and it was really disheartening to see Kallis and Gibbs going for duck. I hope Boucher and De villiers start a recovery. Then, I bought Tata sky connection today in order to enjoy the Indo-Aus series. Then, one of the famous political leaders Benazir Bhutto was shot dead in a suicide bomb blast in a political rally. So, it was a day for lot of events making it an eventful day.

I preferred to sit out of this match cos I was feeling too stiff to continue bowling. We guys betted first and thanks to some good batting by Bajji and Barath, we reached a decent score of 90 in 12 overs. Ramesh and Raja bowled the first spell. Raja was a bit expensive in his first spell. Bowled too many extras. But, then, wickets kept tumbling at Ramesh's end and none o the batsmen except Hariharan could bat well for a few overs. But, hari, waging a lone battle led his team to within the brink of victory, when Subramanian running for Hari, got run out. So, suddenly the twsit of the tale and finally, we won the match by 4 runs. Raja bowled a brilliant final over to prove his class as a bowler. So, we won 90rs in total. Great day for us!!

Ok. I have edited the About page. One of those things which you procastinate. But as I have seen in many blogs the last few months, an About page is very important.

Still, Make Money Blogger’s about page is not probably as detailed as expected. But what’s there at the moment seems just right - for now.
